BLRT Extension Anti-Displacement Research,
2022
In 2022, the Center for Urban and Regional Affairs, CURA, was
selected to conduct to anti-displacement research to
anticipate possible direct and in direct displacement, the
affects it would have on Northside neighborhoods and
communities, and how to prevent it. For this, they partnered
with several organizations, including Juxtaposition Arts and
their Tactical Lab. A part of their research included engaging
with a number of study groups and collect data on their
knowledge and opinions of the extension plan. At JXTA,
we worked to engage with Northside youth for our study group.
For our engagements, we held workshops at several youth
organizations across North Minneapolis where we had
conversations about their thoughts, feelings, and opinions on
the train extension. During these workshops, I would be doing
live graphic note-taking, drawing visuals of what was being
said. At the end of each one, we would share the drawings
and review with the group. I also created an updated info
zine to pass out.
