MCAD Campus Envisioning, 2022

In 2022, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, MCAD,

began engaging with students, staff, alumni, and the

surrounding community about their plans to remodel

existing student housing, and to build additional housing.

They were also engaging their community on future

possibilities for the rest of the campus.

For this engagement, MCAD partnered with Juxtaposition

Art’s Tactical Lab and Environmental Design Lab to create

an information zine and lead listening sessions and

workshops. In addition to this, we also worked with the

school’s 3D students and wood shop to create a to-scale

model of the existing campus. This model was placed in the

school’s common area where students and staff could add

to it and envision a new campus. This activity was inspired

by James Rojas’ “Place It” workshops.
