In 2018 I returned to co-teaching Juxtaposition Art’s
Visual Arts Literacy Training, VALT, class. When the
pandemic began in 2020, we needed to transition
entirely to virtual learning and adjust our curriculum
and teaching to match that. With this change, we
added a new assignment where I walked VALT
students through the basics of character design.
I recorded and edited a series of four videos on
character design where I drew a character for the
class named Sakeena. Students would watch the
videos and when we came together for class we
would work on our drawings and give feedback.
