I Am Not My Hair is a one page self-portrait comic
I created for the Twin Cities TPT and PBS annual
Be My Guest 2021 event. The comic follows the
theme of the event; using my art to express
aspects of my identity and religion.
At the time of creating this peace at a time where
I was going through a lot of transition with my life
and my faith. So, I chose to create a piece reflecting
on my choice to stop wearing hijab after twenty-four
years. I used a variety of photos of myself to create
an abstract and non-sequitur one page comic.
