Terrell Mayes Jr Mural, 2021

In the summer of 2021, I was commissioned by

Community Members for Environmental Justice,

CMEJ, to create a memorial mural to honor Terrell

Mayes Jr, a young boy whose life was tragically lost

to gun violence at the age of 3. The mural was to be

placed in a peace garden that CMEJ and Terrell’s

mom, Marsha Mayes created in his name.

The mural was completed for a celebration at the

garden on July 29th to celebrate his 13th birthday.

It was a blessing to work with Marsha to create this

mural in my own neighborhood. Please read the

the other children who’s lives were lost to

senseless gun violence.
